Description

Coding is exceedingly popular in education now. It can be stressful to wonder if your children are missing something essential. There are a lot of in-person programs that can be expensive, but with this course, you’ll learn to use the same free tools (very easily) to teach and integrate coding into your homeschool curriculum or teaching subject.

The big question, though, is whether you need to use coding in your teaching. Well, no! But as a qualified teacher of nearly a decade’s worth of school involvement, I haven’t seen a better tool for teaching problem solving, collaboration, abstraction and decomposition.

We’ll explore basics of coding which can be used with your children who aren’t even reading yet. We’ll take these same principles and apply them so even your older children/learners will be able to create and learn using this amazing tool.

I remember teaching a learner who was known to struggle in problem solving and would break down quickly when faced with a bigger project or task. When coding she was quickly challenged but saw that persevering was worth it. I will also remember her smile when she, at her own pace, showed me how she had solved a challenging coding puzzle. Making learning fun and still challenging is a fine line to walk that coding does exceptionally well. If correctly done that is.

You CAN teach and use coding in homeschool and the classroom. I’m here to help you on your family’s learning journey.

You will learn

✓ How to integrate 21st Century essential skills, in the form of coding, into your homeschool children’s lessons.
✓ If you’re a teacher, you’ll see how you can use coding in any subject that you teach!

✓ Do it all with free, accessible tools!

Coding and Robotics Educator
I am a qualified teacher (Post Graduate Certificate in Education for Grade 7-12) with an undergraduate degree in Journalism and Honours in both Anthropology and Theology. I have been working in different roles in schools for nearly 10 years and found my absolute favourite thing to do was include coding and robotics in subjects such as Natural Science and English. After seeing my experience in this, at the school I worked at primarily, I was given the task of being sole Coding and Robotics teacher for grade 0-7! This means I have taught from grade 0-12 and have seen how coding and robotics, and Thinking Skills, can help equip the next generation for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
I’ve stepped out of mainstream education to focus on homeschooling. My training and experience in teaching Thinking Skills and Coding and Robotics is helping me equip parents who want to take charge of their children(s) education. I’m here to empower families on their learning journey!
