In this course, we will try to describe and understand the social movements in a global perspective. This means we must evaluate the causes and evolution of social movements in historical context. We must deal with the relative importance of political, economic, and social forces in creating and sustaining social movements. The significance of race, ethnicity and gender will also be explored for this matter.
After the course, you will be able to:
•evaluate the causes and evolution of social movements in historical context.
•define and understand social movements in a global perspective and question them.
•interpret social movements from a global perspective.
•evaluate social movements politically and economically.
•distinguish the relative importance of political, economic and social forces in creating and sustaining social movements. Relates the importance of the concepts of race, ethnicity and gender in this context.

This course is designed to provide a general impression of social movements in general and in particular. If you are interested in social events or work in sociology, this course is for you. During the course, you will find points that appeal to you. During the course, you will have examples that you can reinforce with your daily life. In this context, you will be proficient in the general definition of social movements and other issues that are in contact with this topic.
