Description

If you play keyboards and always wanted to know how the sounds are created and learn how you could make your own, this class is for you!

Here you’re going to learn the principles of sound synthesis, so that you will be able to make your own sounds or even make changes to presets on your keyboard in order to render it more unique. Here’s what we’re going to cover in this class:

  • What is a sound
  • Wave shapes
  • Types of synthesis
  • Envelopes
  • L.F.O.

And more, so at the end of the class you will be all set to start your adventure into the sound synthesis world and make your first sound creations! After that, you can move on to my other classes about more specific sound synthesis subjects, like ways to make that perfect keyboard sound for your song, messing with your keyboard recordings so it sounds even more unique and so on, knowing that you will be able to follow along easily and take your musicianship to a whole new level.

You will learn

For this class project, I suggest you to create a pad sound from complete scratch. To do that, all you will need is to follow the steps explained on the lesson “Creating a Pad Sound”, in which I go in depth on how you are going to do the whole process.

On the example I teach you, I used the virtual instrument Sylenth1 by Lennar Digital running into the DAW Reaper, so if this is a software you get your hands on, I’d recommend it as it would be easier to follow through the process. However, as I mention on the class introduction, with any software or keyboard that has basic sound synthesis features (oscillators, filters, EG and LFO), you will be all set and will be able to get a result very close to the one I teach!

Don’t be afraid to experiment and create something completely different from what I show you if you feel like it! I’d love to hear what you come up with no matter if you choose to follow the steps mentioned or not.

Take your time and go through the lessons at your own pace. Remember to take notes and rewind the lessons if needed. Also, feel free to go to the community section if there’s anything you feel like having trouble with so I can help be the best way I can. I’m excited to hear what you will create!
