In today’s drilling market no one can afford to get stuck – the costs are simply too high – especially if the incident leads to having to side-track or abandon the well. The more Drilling Personnels know about Stuck Pipe Prevention, the less likelihood of becoming stuck. We begin by helping you to understand the key causes of Solids Induced Pack off so that they may be prevented through well planning, certain drilling fluids, and certain drilling practices, policies, and procedures.
We cover the following formations which may cause Solids Induced Stuck Pipe: Unconsolidated Formations, Mobile, Fractured and Faulted Formations, Naturally and Induced Overpressured Shale Collapse, Reactive and Tectonically Stressed Formations and finally Poor Hole Cleaning. We then cover The Driller’s “First Actions” which he is required to carry out if he does become stuck downhole. Finally, there are several questions which the delegate is required to answer to demonstrate his or her understanding of the subject material.
This course is conducted by Dr. Michael Gibson, who has 40 years of Drilling Industry experience. He has written a great deal of training material throughout the years and many SPE, IADC, and Industry Conference Papers. This is an informative course which is both interesting and enjoyable.
