FLIGHT TRAINING IN A JET FIGHTER
Before VR flight sim came along you either had to join up or be very rich to learn to fly a jet fighter.
Existing military training has served the Armed Forces well for many years but the drive to reduce cost while preparing crews for ever more sophisticated front-line aircraft was a catalyst for change. The USAF realised that innovation in training delivery could be achieved if all military flying training was included in an industry-led, military-backed new training system.
Using VR we have the unique ability to deliver an innovative training solution to the next generation of potential military aircrew.
“It’s probably one of the most physically demanding airplanes to fly.” Movies like Top Gun can’t convey the brutal physics of piloting a fighter jet that can, “snap 9 Gs in less than a second.” Pilots are athletes in top physical condition and endure years of training to handle the accelerative forces. 9 G…forget it that hurts.
Many private pilots dream of flying a fast, agile jet fighter. Let’s face it, small prop-driven planes are fun to fly and they are efficient ways of getting from point A to point B. However, who wouldn’t jump at the chance to indulge in high-speed flight with exciting manoeuvres?
There are companies that have old jets that you can have a go in but they are far from cheap.
The L-39C Albatros jet fighter aircraft, for example in the USA made in Czechoslovakia, is a low wing, all metal turbo fan-powered aircraft, built to rugged military specifications that include basic and advanced pilot training, weapons delivery and light attack combat missions. Tandem seating allows both pilots a wide field of view for safer flight. Originally designed and constructed in the 1960s, this durable and versatile aircraft has been used to train generations of MIG pilots for Warsaw Pact countries. It is currently being used in the military service of over 30 countries across the globe.
So instead of an old recycled aircraft at great expense here is the latest brand new USAF Red Hawk fighter trainer that you can fly in VR in the comfort and safety of your own home It is a no brainer, real time and weather anywhere in the world hours and hours of free flying training once you are setup. Free fuel and free landing fees learn everything you need to know for nothing.
X-plane 11 is not an arcade game like other flight sims, it is as real as it can get. My teenage boy and his friends prefer other types of games with better graphics more bombs and no patience. They spend hour shooting each other down but none of them can land or navigate.
I am a real pilot not just a flight sim pilot and I really enjoy X-plane 11 and the huge variety of aircraft available. The sad future of fighter aircraft is that the real pilot will be sat at a computer controlling the fighter somewhere in the world simply because the pilot is the weakest link unable to pull over 9 G.
