This course was developed to aid law enforcement and security personnel in their jobs. These are dangerous professions in which a physical altercation is not a matter of if, but a matter of when. Every physical altercation has the potential to be fatal. In order to increase your odds of survival, it is necessary to seek out and train in defensive tactics and martial arts techniques.
However, due to the overly litigious nature of our society, surviving the physical altercation at any costs is not acceptable. To better meet the needs of the current American cultural climate, law enforcement and security personnel have to consider the physical safety of those who are attempting to do them harm.
This course presents the basic techniques and considerations that allow law enforcement and security personnel to end a physical altercation while using the least amount of force necessary to accomplish this goal. The techniques presented in this course are also the foundation for effective takedowns and weapons disarmament.
An example of using techniques that are “safe” for the assailant include the use of open hand strikes instead of fists or weapons. Additionally, the target areas for striking can be adjusted. For example, an assailant should never be struck in the head. Instead, strikes to the thighs should be used as they are effective and non-lethal in nature.
