In this course you will learn about gender protection in emergency settings.
Gender issues are complex, however in an emergency setting, gender issues are amplified and often a complicated matter to solve. This course touch on the fundamentals of gender issues, gender based violence, gender protection and gender mainstreaming in emergencies and provides practical information of these topics.
The course is divided into 3 sessions:
•Session 1
Overview of the terminology and main meanings: protection; gender; gender issues; gender based violence. A specific attention is dedicated to how gender based violence impact both adults and children, and how it connects to emergency environments.
•Session 2
The concept of protection in emergencies is deeply analyzed and presented in all its implications: from a legal point of view up to its applications to the settlement camps.
•Session 3
Gender mainstreaming and protection: an analysis of the meanings and the presentation of how to link gender mainstreaming to protection in emergencies.
