Description

This course prepares students for the IT Fundamentals exam. The course covers five modules: 1. Common Computing Devices. 2. Data Types and Units. 3. Using Apps. 4. Using Networks, and 5. Security Concepts. Multiple choice questions are designed to address how well students can explain, compare and contrast, and demonstrate their understanding of the topics presented.
Module 1 – Using Computers
This module covers five units: Computing Devices, Using a Workstation, Using an OS, Managing an OS and Troubleshooting and Support.
Module 2 – Using Apps and Databases
This module covers four units: Data Types and Units, Using Apps, Programming and App Development, and Using Databases
Module 3 – Using Computer Hardware
This module covers five units: System Components, Using Devices, Using Peripherals, Using Storage Devices, Using File Systems.
Module 4 – Using Networks
This module covers five units: Networking Concepts, Connecting to a Network. Secure Web Browsing, Using Shared Storage, Using Mobile Devices.
Module 5 – Security Concepts
This module covers four units: Security Concepts, Behavioral Security, Using Best Practices, and Using Access Controls
The percentage of questions are distributed accordingly: Concepts and Terminology (17%), Infrastructure (22%), Applications and Software (18%), Software Development (12%), Databases (11%), and Security (20%).
The questions are presented as multiple-choice questions because this is the format for CompTIA’s certification exam. The test can be taken at a site location or online. If you choose the latter, your computer system must meet requirements in order to take the exam (system compatibility and network connections).
