Candidates for the CompTIA A+ Core Series must pass two exams: Core 1 (220-1001) and Core 2 (220-1002) covering the following new content:
•Demonstrate fundamental security knowledge for IT support personnel.
•Configure device operating systems such as Windows, Mac, Linux, Chrome OS, Android, and iOS, as well as manage client-based and cloud-based (SaaS) software.
•Troubleshoot and fix core service and support issues while employing best practices in documentation, change management, and scripting.
•Basic IT infrastructure and networking support
•Hardware configuration and support for PC, mobile, and IoT devices
•Implement fundamental data backup and recovery mechanisms, as well as optimum data storage and management practices.
CompTIA A+ 220-1001 (Core 1) and 220-1002 (Advanced) (Core 2)
To be certified, candidates must finish both 1001 and 1002. Exams from different series cannot be combined.
CompTIA A+ 220-1001 exam topics include mobile devices, networking technology, hardware, virtualization and cloud computing, and network troubleshooting.
CompTIA A+ 220-1002 includes operating system installation and configuration, enhanced security, software troubleshooting, and operational procedures.
